How do you check that a hospital bed is registered with the MDA?

Ask the seller for the device registration number (for example GA9817222-107721), search it in the public database of Malaysia's Medical Device Authority (MDA), and match the model codes on the record with the model code on your quotation or invoice. Also check the seller's establishment licence and the validity dates. Record GA9817222-107721 for our hospital beds lists five model codes: BI01A, BII01A, BIII01A, BIV01A and BX-A01, valid from 8 November 2022 to 7 November 2027. AA Alive Sdn Bhd holds four MDA establishment licences: manufacturer, authorised representative, distributor and importer. A registration covers only the models it lists. It does not prove that every mattress, accessory or package is covered. The accurate term is registered with the MDA, not certified or approved. If the model code does not match, ask the seller to explain in writing before you pay. The check takes a few minutes and works for any hospital-bed seller.

Step by step

  1. Ask for the device registration number. A seller of a registered hospital bed can give you the MDA device record number.
  2. Open the MDA database. Use the device record or the establishment licence search at mdar.mda.gov.my.
  3. Match the model code. The model code on the quotation or invoice must appear in the model list on the MDA record.
  4. Check the validity dates of the device record and the establishment licence.
  5. Check the seller's role. The establishment licence states whether the company is a manufacturer, authorised representative, distributor or importer.
